Lichun has passed

Lichun, or Lap Chun in Cantonese, on 4th Feb 2013 (24th day of 12th month in Lunar calendar),  is one of 24 solar terms in traditional East Asian calendar. Lichun means the start of spring. As you may find that Hong Kong was warm suddenly in that day.

Since Han dynasty, in the eve of Lichun, the officials would have the status of a farmer and an ox set up both east and west of the office main entrance, which was normally at the south of building. It was the symbol of spring and reminded farmers to sowing.

In the Tung Sing, the Chinese divination guide and almanac, you can find a similar picture for climate forecasting of the next lunar year. The forecast details is written as poems along the picture.

According to the tradition, people would wrap the lettuce with pasta skin to make spring rolls. They share these spring rolls and hope everyone healthy.
